Our History

Established in the 1980s through the pioneering work of our Pastor Emeritus, Pastor Melvyn Lee Brown, the La Loma Baptist Church Sacred Music Ministry continues to glorify God and strengthen the church through sound, sacred music. Our choir and orchestra are composed of faithful members who offer their God-given talents in service to the Lord. Through Christ-honoring music, we seek to uplift the hearts of believers and prepare every heart for worship and the preaching of God’s Word. We are committed to preserving the right kind of music—music that is biblically grounded, spiritually enriching, and worthy of being offered in His holy sanctuary. By God’s grace, our ministry has grown to over 90 active members, faithfully serving and helping to lead the congregation in reverent and joyful worship each week.

Ptr. Ramil L. Olalia

"Ptr. Ramil L. Olalia is the current pastor of La Loma Baptist Church. He accepted the call to leadership in September 2021 and now faithfully oversees all the ministries of LBC under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

With a heart for shepherding God’s people and a passion for sound doctrine, Ptr. Ramil leads the church by God’s grace—with humility and unwavering commitment to the Great Commission. His leadership reflects a deep desire to see lives transformed, families strengthened, and Christ exalted in every aspect of church life."

Timothy James H. Doctor

Bro. TJ serves as the current Music Director of La Loma Baptist Church. He assumed the role in May 2023, following a legacy of faithful leadership in the ministry. As Music Director, he oversees all branches of the LBC Sacred Music Ministry, including the Choir, Orchestra, Song Leaders, Special Numbers, Pianists, Music Composition Team, Full-Time Choir, and Youth Choir.

With a heart for excellence and a deep commitment to Christ-honoring worship, Bro. TJ leads with purpose, guiding each area of the ministry to serve in unity and sound doctrine. His leadership reflects both spiritual conviction and a clear vision for the role of sacred music in edifying the church and exalting Christ."

Lourdes Bernadette D. Tan

"Ma’am Lourdes Bernadette “Odette” Tan has been a cornerstone of the La Loma Baptist Church Sacred Music Ministry since 1982. With over four decades of unwavering service, she has faithfully used her God-given talent to lead the church in worship through sacred music. As the Senior Church Pianist, she serves as the primary accompanist for both the LBC Choir and Orchestra.

Her ministry extends beyond the platform as a dedicated faculty member of the La Loma Bible College and Institute. Respected for her humility, excellence, and steadfast commitment to the Lord, Ma’am Odette stands as a faithful example of what it means to serve Christ with both heart and hands."

Jewel Rose Y. Matawa

Sis. Jewel Rose Matawa serves as the Secretary of the La Loma Baptist Church Sacred Music Ministry, playing a key role in the organization and coordination of ministry efforts. Her dedication behind the scenes ensures the smooth operation and continued growth of the music ministry.

In addition to her administrative role, Sis. JR leads the LBC Orchestra as Rehearsal Master, guiding both sectional and full rehearsals. Since joining the orchestra in 2011 as a violist, she has grown into serving as its Principal Violist."
